WASHINGTON - Congressman Mitchell released the following statement today following the shooting at Fort Hood:

"Today's shooting at Fort Hood is a terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. It serves as a reminder of the debt we owe our servicemen and women.  They are there for us and we must show our support for them, particularly during difficult times like these."

Earlier today, eleven people plus a gunman were killed and at least 31 were wounded after the gunman opened fire at Fort Hood in Texas.  The gunman was a soldier, and two other soldiers have been detained as suspects. [Source: CNN, November 5, 2009]
