It is an honor to represent Michigan’s 10th District. I’m about 60 days into my first term in the House of Representatives, so I wanted to give you an update on my progress.  I also want to make sure you know how to contact me should you want to connect with me on any concerns or issues you may have with the federal government:

  • I’ve caught up with Audie Cornish of All Things Considered on NPR a few times since taking office.  Listen here and here.
  • Sat down with Michigan Radio to discuss efforts to protect our Great Lakes.
  • mLIVE detailed my efforts to ensure families can access health care, regardless of how sick or healthy they are.
  • I joined Representatives Bishop, Trott, and Walberg in a Detroit Free Press op-ed, “Doing Nothing on Obamacare is not an option.”
  • In case you missed it, check out my op-ed in The Detroit Newsdetailing early efforts this Congress to enact regulatory reform.

Washington Update

Providing Regulatory Relief with passage of my first bill in Congress

I hear from families and businesses across the district that over regulation makes it harder to succeed. I am proud to deliver on my promise to provide relief, and to have done so in my first 100 days.
Last week, the House passed my bill, the OIRA Insight, Reform, and Accountability Act.  My legislation would strengthen the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) as the first line of defense to stop overly burdensome regulations.  For more information on my bill, click here.

Protecting Our Great Lakes

Our Great Lakes are a beautiful natural resource, and support commerce throughout our district.  It is imperative that we take appropriate precautions to protect our Great Lakes.  That is why I joined the Great Lakes Task Force, dedicated to advancing policies and programs that protect environmental quality throughout the Great Lakes basin.

Ontario Power Generation has proposed to build a nuclear waste facility within a mile of Lake Huron.  This is a safety and environmental hazard we cannot risk. As one of my first acts in Congress, I sent a letter to President Trump asking him to urge our Canadian neighbors to move the proposed site to a more suitable location.  Read the full letter here.

In addition, I am working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure full funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.

Restoring Healthcare

Our health care system is not working.  Obamacare has massively driven up costs and is collapsing under its own weight, which is why we must act to restore health care in America.

As the House continues the step-by-step process of restoring health care, I am committed to maintaining protections for patients with pre-existing conditions, which is why I coauthored the Pre-Existing Conditions Protection Act.  To read more about the Pre-Existing Conditions Protection Act, click here

Mitchell in Michigan

Robert Dyson is a Macomb area United States Navy Veteran who served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969.  I had the honor of presenting him with medals he never received, denoting extraordinary acts of heroism in service to our country. If you or a veteran you know need assistance securing medals earned, please contact my office at 586-997-5010.

I joined 4th and 5th graders at Hevel Elementary School to celebrate “Reading Month.”  I was glad to share a good book with some great students and answer their questions about Congress.

Sat down with Chief Robert Phillips, Macomb Township Supervisor Janet Dunn, and some of the firefighters in Macomb. We discussed the ACA, the impact of regulations, and the opioid epidemic. I am humbled by their commitment to our community and their willingness to assume risk to keep us safe. Thank you for your service and for meeting with me.

Visited Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works to talk about their programs to support Michigan’s Workforce Development system.

I met with constituents who use Medicare Advantage to discuss maintaining this important program.
