CONGRESSMAN MITCHELL HOSTS MEDAL PINNING CEREMONY IN NEW BALTIMORE
Shelby Township, MI – Yesterday evening, Congressman Paul Mitchell (MI-10) held an event to present four veterans with medals they earned during their service.
- Albert Janus (Army) – Washington: Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Badge & Carbine Bar, and Marksman Badge & Rifle Bar
- Hermann Christoph (Army) – Algonac: Bronze Star Medal with letter “V” Device, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon w/ Device (1960), Expert Badge with Machine Gun Bar, and Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar
- Giovanni (John) Zerilli (Navy) – New Baltimore: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Honorable Reserve Discharge Button, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 1960 Device
- Dennis Kostinko (Marine Corps) – Harrison Township: Vietnam Service Pin
“It’s important to recognize the incredible sacrifice these veterans made for our country, and last night’s event was a great way to honor and commemorate their service – especially since they were often not given the proper respect at the time.
