Press Release

WASHINGTON – Congressman Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement this afternoon after voting to fully fund the Department of Defense consistent with funding in the National Defense Authorization Act:

“This is the first time in a decade Congress has fulfilled its important constitutional duty to protect and defend our nation by passing Defense Appropriations before the end of the fiscal year,” said Mitchell. “This bill gives our military the resources it needs to recover from severe readiness and training issues. It replenishes our military might by devoting funds for equipment procurement and maintenance, including A-10 wing replacements and upgrades for Strykers and Abrams Tanks. It also provides funding for increased training, and supports the largest pay raise for troops in nearly a decade.”
