Mitchell Applauds HHS Opioid Response Grants for Sandusky and Marlette
Shelby Township, Michigan – Congressman Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced $1,725,000 in Rural Communities Opioid Response Program grants for McKenzie Memorial Hospital in Sandusky ($725,000) and Michigan Rural EMS Network in Marlette ($1,000,000).
“As the opioid crisis ravages our nation— claiming more lives than car accidents— our government should assist efforts that fight this issue head on. Programs like the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program equip our rural communities with resources they need to address substance abuse issues. I am glad to see the Department of Health and Human Services’ announcement and look forward to seeing the ways our rural communities implement this funding to save lives.”
