Press Release

Shelby Township, MI – Congressman Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement after the United States, Mexico, and Canada announced an agreement was reached on the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement:

“I am extremely pleased to see a new trilateral agreement between the United States, Mexico and Canada that updates and modernizes NAFTA for the 21st century. Canada and Mexico have been good trade partners; however, our needs are different now than they were when NAFTA was first signed more than 20 years ago, and I believe this new deal will benefit American workers and our economy. Especially critical for Michigan are new provisions that appear to be positive for American automakers and agriculture. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to review the full text of the agreement.”
