Mitchell Commends House Appropriators for Major Step in GLRI Funding
Washington, D.C. – Representative Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement after the House Appropriations Committee announced Fiscal Year 2018 Interior and Environment Bill, which includes full funding of $300 million for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI):
“Since taking office, I have been an advocate for our Great Lakes. In addition to their beauty, our Lakes are the source of drinking water for millions and an essential part of Michigan’s economy. I applaud the House Appropriations Committee for this important step to fund the GLRI, which is necessary to protect our Lakes for all to enjoy and our economy to prosper,” said Representative Mitchell.
In March, Representative Mitchell sent a bipartisan letter to the House Appropriations Committee in support of $300 million of funding for the GLRI.
In February, Representative Mitchell sent a bipartisan letter to President Trump in support of full funding for the GLRI.
