Mitchell Hosts Initial Agriculture Advisory Committee Meeting
Shelby Township, MI. – On Monday, Representative Mitchell (MI-10) held the initial meeting of the newly established Agriculture Advisory Committee in Sandusky. The Committee, comprised of farmers and growers from across Michigan’s 10th District, advises Representative Mitchell as he works for Michigan’s agricultural community in Washington.
Representative Mitchell released the following statement after the meeting:
“The Committee underscored the need for equitable trade practices that benefit American farmers, specifically the Department of Commerce’s agreement to stop Mexican sugar dumping,” said Representative Mitchell. “We also discussed the upcoming Farm Bill, crop insurance, and the impact of federal regulations across the agricultural industry, from dairy to corn to specialty crops. The input of farmers and growers in Michigan’s 10th district is essential as I continue to work to promote policies in Washington that will help our agricultural community prosper and ensure quality food products for our nation. I am grateful to the members of the Agriculture Advisory Committee for spending the evening with me to discuss issues impacting agriculture in our area.”
