Mitchell Leads Delegation Letter Urging Secretary of the Air Force to Bring F-35s to Selfridge
Washington, D.C. – Representative Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement after sending a letter to Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson urging the selection of Selfridge Air National Guard Base (ANGB) as a new home for the F-35 Lightning II:
“I could not be more proud to represent the men and women of Selfridge in Washington. It is through their dedication that Selfridge has become the model modern Air National Guard Base that it is today. Selfridge is a steadfast community partner and a critical center for military readiness. As the Air Force site survey team surely witnessed at their visit to Selfridge earlier this month, it is an excellent choice for the home of the F-35s,” said Representative Mitchell.
“The road to military readiness starts in Michigan. I urge the Air Force to select the 127th Wing as the new host of the F-35s.”
Representatives Jack Bergman (MI-01), Bill Huizenga (MI-02), John Moolenaar (MI-04), Fred Upton (MI-06), Tim Walberg (MI-07), Mike Bishop (MI-08), and Dave Trott (MI-11) also signed the letter to show their support for Selfridge.
