Mitchell Responds to Halting of Construction of Caro Psychiatric Hospital
WASHINGTON – Congressman Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement this afternoon after reports that Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration is delaying underway construction of a new 150-bed psychiatric hospital in Caro, Michigan.
“I am concerned about reports that Governor Whitmer’s administration is delaying construction – already underway – of the new 150-bed psychiatric hospital in Caro, Michigan. Rural communities in the Thumb rely on facilities like this for both mental health care and jobs. In the coming days, I will speak more with local community leaders and will attempt to speak to Governor Whitmer to seek an explanation for why her administration would make this financially irresponsible decision to delay construction.”
