Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Representative Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement regarding this morning’s shooting at the Congressional Baseball Game practice in Alexandria, VA.

“I am shocked and saddened by this morning’s attack on my House colleagues – fellow representatives, Capitol Police, staffers, and fellow Michigander, former staffer Matt Mika.  Though I am not a member of the team, and was not present during the attack, I echo Speaker Ryan’s sentiment on the House floor today: an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.  We are all disturbed by this inhuman act.  I am grateful today and always for the Capitol Police officers who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to keep all of us safe.  I ask those in Michigan’s 10th district, and across America to pray for the swift recovery of those who were injured today.”
