Shelby Township, MI – Earlier today, DTE Energy announced plans to build a natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant in East China Township, Michigan.  The plant is nearly a billion-dollar investment in Michigan’s 10th District.  It is expected to create 520 full time construction jobs beginning in 2019, and ultimately 35 full time jobs once the plant is operational.  Representative Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement after DTE’s announcement:

“I commend DTE for their investment in Michigan’s 10th District.  The new plant in East China Township will create jobs and deliver affordable and reliable energy to our area.  DTE’s announcement today is part of the 21st century approach to energy we must take to achieve energy independence and secure our future.  We can power our homes, schools, and businesses with American-made energy, beginning right here in our backyard,” said Representative Mitchell.
