Press Release

Shelby Township, MI – Rep. Paul Mitchell (MI-10) released the following statement after the Michigan Senate rejected the proposed House grant to repair the sinkhole in Fraser:

“I have spoken with Speaker Leonard and reached out to Majority Leader Meekhof to voice my support for the House’s proposed grant to fund repairs to the sinkhole in Fraser.  This has implications for our entire state, and could cause serious damage to the Great Lakes if sewage continues to enter the Clinton River.”

On Wednesday, the Michigan Senate rejected the House’s proposed $3 million grant to fund a sewage bypass system to prevent sewage from entering the Clinton River, instead offering a $5 million loan.
