Mitchell Urges Funding of Great Lakes Restoration Initiative
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Paul Mitchell (MI-10) issued the following statement on reports that funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) will be cut for FY 2018:
“I am already on record supporting $300 million in funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. This program is critical to preserving our beautiful Great Lakes. I am concerned by initial reports that this funding will be slashed in the 2018 budget. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and the administration to support full funding of the GLRI.”
In February, Representative Mitchell sent a bipartisan letter to President Trump in support of $300 million of funding for the GLRI.
Representative Mitchell is a member of the Great Lakes Task Force, dedicated to advancing policies and programs that protect environmental quality throughout the Great Lakes basin.
