As a parent, I know that success looks different for each child.   I frequently hear from parents, teachers, and school boards in my district that with more local flexibility, they can better meet the needs of students.  As a member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, I am focused on returning power where it belongs – with teachers, schools, and parents.  

The College Transparency Act 

Today's students and their families need accurate, accessible, and comprehensive information to choose the college that best fits their individual needs.  Unfortunately, important information about whether or not a particular college or major pays off for students is currently incomplete. I recently introduced the College Transparency Act to address the shortcomings of the current reporting system and enable students to make better informed enrollment decisions.  To learn more, click here.

Mitchell introduced the College Transparency Act (H.R. 2434), which would enable students and families to make more informed choices about education after high school.   The College Transparency Act will provide information for students and families as they consider higher education opportunities by reporting on student outcomes like enrollment, completion, and post-college success across colleges and majors, all while ensuring the privacy of individual students is securely protected.
