Congressman Paul Mitchell

Representing the 10th District of Michigan

Health

Our health care system is in need of repair.  Obamacare is unaffordable and unsustainable.  Costs are rising while quality and choice of care are diminishing for Michigan families and businesses. Health insurance means little if those with it cannot find a doctor or afford their deductible or copays.

I am focused on preserving protections for patients with pre-existing conditions, providing Americans with more choices, lower costs, and greater flexibility.   We will empower patients and doctors, increase choice and reduce costs.

“The health care system we have today is not working, and is not sustainable.  As I have said all along, people should have a choice in care.  Mandating that people have coverage and exactly what coverage they ought to have, violates consumers’ freedom to choose.  This approach has not worked.  That is why we made a commitment to the American people to institute real reform.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Paul Mitchell (MI-10) issued the following statement on passage of H.R. 1628 The American Health Care Act:

“The Affordable Care Act continues to collapse; premiums, copays, and deductibles continue to rise; and families continue to struggle. Doing nothing is not an option.

I know from business; rarely can you achieve the ‘perfect’ deal. Perfect doesn’t exist in negotiation.  Over the past few weeks, changes have been made to improve the American Health Care Act.
